What is this thing? If you know what it is could you give me a web link to compare it to please?
Does anyone know what this skull piece is from?
I found this upper piece of the skull/jaw bone in shallow water from the Indian river in Florida. I have not been able to figure out what it is. It has no “fang” type tooth that most animals have. Its not from a fish. I have looked up everything I can think of and so have several other people I know. We run into the problem that we find something that looks like the tooth but does not match the shape of the skull piece or vice versa. The closest we can find of teeth matching is a deer and the shape of the head piece is an alligator. Unless these two animals got together to make a hybrid (shiver) I am positive it is neither of them either.
This is driving me and my friends nuts trying to figure this out. Can anyone help? Even guesses are welcomed, as we are all out of them.

Well it certainly looks herbivorous (no sharp teeth). Maybe its a juvenile and thats throwing your analyses? Also, maybe teeth are missing?
