Picasa Free Web Albums
Should I continue to use Picasa Web albums or create a photography website?
I am in high school, but I take senior photos for my friends. I am deciding on whether I should keep using Picasa Web or make a website on Google, Weebly, Flickr? I got a Flickr once, but apparently there is a maximum number of pictures you can upload. I don’t like that. I like Picasa Web because I know how to use it, but a website of my own might be more personal. Any input? Also, is there a free, reliable, good site in which I could set up a website? Or do you like Google or Weebly good? Thanks!
Try www.wix.com to create a site. If you don’t yet have your own domain name you can use the free service from wix for the time being. Once you do get to the point you have your own business, domain, etc you can use the wix site in combination with it.
Be very careful of web presence and any advertisement unless you are registered with your state as a business and are paying your sales tax and income tax accordingly. If you want to have a site JUST displaying your work for friends and contacts have JUST that. Do NO advertising or saying that you take portraits or that they can contact you for a sitting, etc.
Believe it or not the states are getting so desperate they even have people trolling craigslist and google for “businesses” that are not legitimately registered business. I have seen SEVERAL photographers who were contacted because the state couldn’t find their business license!
