Flash Picture Slideshow Xml

I have an XML Flash template that I need help with.?

I recently had a client of mine purchase a XML flash template from templatemonster.com. The template was pretty easy to edit with me only having to change the info in the xml doc but the problem now arises because I would like to change the color of the background, the music and delete some picture placeholders. The problem I am having is that when I open the .fla file and scroll through the movie the entire template does not appear so I am unable to edit anything I would like to.

The site is posted at www.gogodclothing.com. Wherever there are pics outside of those in the photo slideshow I would like to remove those placeholders.

Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

In Flash, and especially Flash files that you get from Template Monster can be visually awesome. They can also be complex. In Flash you can nest Movie clips, inside of movie clips, inside of movie clips, if you get my drift.. You can also link to external Movie clips. Now, what I am trying to say is that you may not be able to find the place holders for the images in the main time line. What you will want to do is move the time line bar back and forth across the main time line until an element starts to show up. Go to that frame and double click that element on the stage. This will open the related movie clip, and possibly show you more of the elements you are looking for. With out actually having access to the .fla file I can only guess. Keep searching the file, clicking on elements to expose other Movie Clips and time lines. The place holders you are looking for are in that file somewhere. You will just have to look around to find them.

Hope that this helped!

Good Luck!

This is the eBook version of the printed book. XML in Flash is an excellent introduction to creating state-of-the-art Flash applications with XML. XML is quickly becoming the most popular way to store and manage data. Flash’s XML Socket makes it possible to network Flash front-ends to an application server. This allows developers to use a Flash interface for applications such as message boards, real-time chats, surveys, news feeds, and games. XML in Flash begins by illustrating the basics of XML and the Flash XML Object. In Part I, Flash is used as a teaching aid as you learn the basics of Flash/XML integration. Part II covers how Flash works with middleware languages, such as PHP and ASP, as well as performance and optimization. You will also create a Flash message board with a database. Part III delves into the advantages of XMLSocket. Hands-on projects include creating a stock market ticker to receive XML data from servers. Finally, the appendixes include invaluable reference information on XML, XMLNode objects, and XMLSocket objects, as well as Frequently Asked Questions. The example applications also illustrate the key concepts necessary for understanding the Flash/XML relationship. You will be able to use the applications on the accompanying Web site regardless of whether or not you spend the time to read and learn about their inner workings.

Java and XML, 3rd Edition , shows you how to cut through all the hype about XML and put it to work. It teaches you how to use the APIs, tools, and tricks of XML to build real-world applications. The result is a new approach to managing information that touches everything from configuration files to web sites.
