How to record precious family times? Of course, taking photos is the easiest and most popular way, but don’t just store your photos in computers or albums where people rarely see them. Let the photos tell your family story.

This tutorial is mainly about how to make family photo video for YouTube. You can also upload the family photo video on iPod, Zune, iPhone … and watch it whenever you want. What you need are some family photos, one or more pieces of background music (optional) and photo video software. Here I choose Wondershare Photo Story Platinum as the photo video maker.

Step 1: Install photo video software and import photos and music

Install photo video software and the program will go to browser your computer’s digital photos automatically. Select your favorite photos and then drag your digital photos to the storyboard (There is no quantity limitation of photos and music) and click the “Add Audio” build-in button to add background music.

Step 2: Select styles for family photo video

There are 300+ free photo video styles that can be used for family photo video. Choose your favorite styles and drag it on the photos. Please be noted that each style has its matching numbers for photos. You can find the number in the right down on each style thumbnail. See below thumbnail to get more info.

Style’s duration time can be set by double click on the time under the style thumbnail when on Storyboard Tab. You can download more free styles by click the left down link when on the Style Tab.

Step 3: Add decoration

Go to “Decoration Tab” to add decoration text, clipart and Effect on your digital photos. Select Text item to add decoration text to digital photos. See below thumbnail to get more info.

You can also add intro movie and credit movie to your family photo video by click the “Intro/Credit” build-in button.

Step 4: Preview and save family photo video

Go to “Publish” Tab, you can preview family photo video by click the preview button first. Then publish it to the format you want. If you want to upload your photo video on YouTube, please publish it to MP4, AVI, WMV or MPEG-2 formats. They all support YouTube and MPEG-2 is preferred. You can get more info on “Video Format” item if you want to upload photo video on portable video players.

Step 5: Upload family photo video on YouTube

After you creating the video file, login your YouTube ID, you will see a big “Upload” button the top right, and then select “Upload Video File “, write down your video title and description at the end. It’s better to enter tags for easily searched by others.
