The industry is tough bro, u need to have at least 3 years experience or companies tend to not even look at u. Courses u can do well Bachelor of info tech takes about 4 – 6 years, but a diploma or advanced diploma should suffice as long as u get distinction or higher.

Going the freelance route gives u the freedom to travel while maintaining an income but jobs can run out if u don’t have excellent credentials, working full time with a company is OK i suppose it provides at least $60,000 a year to juniors, an at management level $140,000+.
The Other option is to work on a contract basis, u sign an agreement to work with a said company for a certain amount of time. Weather that company puts u in a team or whatever is up to them but teams split the workload when organised correctly an can only make ur job easier.

if the big bucks is what ur after head towards management, coding will get u there eventually but a business oriented course is much faster, for now concentrate on learning how to construct databases an creating accurate representations of sites in UML.

There is only one question how much do u love headaches… I guarantee u that their will be sometimes where ull just have to put ur mouse aside an take a break for an hour.

If u wanted to go the whole shabang though u could also consider doing a CISCO course, as an industry standard qualification it will give u the hardware skills to work with networks along side the software skills u gain in programming.
